Got questions? We've got answers.

What are the specific risks of this surgery?

Same as with any surgery, you face a number of general risks like that of anesthesia, infection or bleeding. But we ensure that every patient undergoes an exhaustive pre-operative check-up so that we can detect any problems and ensure that we assess any risk thoroughly to minimise any complications, before the surgery itself.

What are the types of implants available?

There are some excellent implants available in the market today and we can confidently say that we have reached a peak, in terms of implant survivorship. Various types of hip replacement implants with different designs are available and can be categorised on the basis of the metal that they are made of ways, chromium cobalt alloys, Oxinium and Ceramics!

What activities am I allowed to do or what activities should I avoid?

Before hospital discharge, our doctor may assess your ability to do activities of daily living at home and any progress you have made. So our expert team will guide you with physical or occupational therapy.

What kind of Anaesthesia is given to me for surgery?

Usually a simple spinal, an injection in the back, that makes legs numb for about two hours is given. Some people depending on pre-existing medical problems may need general anesthesia.

How long will recovery take?

Robotic Hip Replacement surgery has become popular only because of its quick recovery. The biggest advantage is the very minimal tissue handling and excellent handling of bone which ensures that the patient has minimal pain after surgery and he is able to get up and walk in less than 24 hours of the surgery. Still, surgery is surgery and With any surgery, there is some pain or stretch of the stitches which goes away in a few days with simple medication. We ensure that before the surgery itself depending on the severity of arthritis you have, you have a realistic expectation out of surgery and understand the exercises that you will have to do after the surgery at home.

Most patients go home within 48 hours from surgery and at NHS Hospital Jalandhar, under the leadership of Dr. Shubhang Aggarwal, we are working hard to decrease your hospital stay and make sure that you are able to go home in your comfortable environment sooner than that also.

As compare to conventional shoulder replacement surgery, recovery in robotic replacement surgery is far superior and faster.
