What is Scoliosis Surgery?

If the doctor feel the bend is of a mild degree then he can advise physiotherapy and medication, if he feels that the bend is of moderate category then physiotherapy or braces (thoracolumbosacral orthosis or TLSO back brace) or in some cases even surgery if also required. If the doctor feels that the bend is of severe or serious nature then the only solution is surgery.

If the scoliosis is progressing rapidly at a young age, surgeon install a rod that can adjust in length as the child grows. Only an experinced surgeon can attached this rod as this attached growing rod is attached to the top and bottom sections of the spinal curvature, and is usually lengthened every six months.
